Brad worked today on his setup and him turning back without dipping. We are still trying to get him to take it back on plane so that he can come down on plane.
Yearly Archives: 2014
We worked today on 1 putting from 10-30 feet, the concept really not only getting into the “red circle” but trying to hit our target, even at the expense of the follow up putt. Used a turned over range bucket as the target. We also did some up and down practice. Gotta be able to make […]
Matt has been trying to make 100 3 foot putts in a row. Today he was definitely the most exciting attempt at the goal. Footage is from about halfway through.
Matt had has weekly lesson with Coach Martin. He worked on staying connected and making a complete turn back.
Matt played in his final tournament of the summer, held at Brackenridge Park Golf Course in downtown San Antonio. We have still been struggling with his arm swings and working on our short game. There were many kids in his division today but he managed to hang on to win with a score of 25. […]
Working with Matt on making 2 putts every time. Letting him get some feel and making him “make” his lag putts. He’s starting to learn about confidence and what it takes to make putts and handle nerves. Making sure to redirect him to his setup each time doubt creeps in.
Matthew played again today in the STPGA 5 hole modified tournament held at Sonterra Country Club (North Course). The North Course is pretty challenging course with mostly raised green complexes which are fairly fast. The STPGA was running 30 minutes behind on tee times today, so the kids were getting anxious. Matthew is going through […]
Matthew is still working on his setup and stroke. More importantly he is learning how to concentrate for extended periods. Not easy for a 7 year old.
Matthew had his lesson today. Working on swing sequence and making a complete turn back and through.
Matthew played in another 5 hold modified event today held at Dominion Country Club. He struggled at bit with his putting and ball striking. He hit some really good putts and some really good shots, but some that were just flat out bad.
We worked for a good 2 hours on chipping today. Focusing on setup, rotation and distance control. Enjoy
Coach Martin had Matthew working on his setup and takeaway.
Matt played in the finals of City Match Play Championships today. He had a pretty good day and held off his opponent to take first place 4 &3. He lost the first hole by chunking his tee shot then having to take a unplayable on his second shot. He conceded hole. He proceeded to take […]
Matt is playing in the 2014 San Antonio Junior Match Play Championships, held at Riverside Golf Course. The first day was a qualifying day, in which he did qualify. He hit some good shots but his putting was just not there with 4 3-putts and 1 4-putt. Even with the not so good putting he […]
Matt played 5 holes today at Republic and posted a 23 once again. This seems to be his sticking point for now. The score is 4 over par. He did it this time with 2 pars, 2 bogies and a double. He had a total of 12 putts including 2 3 putts. The greens at […]
Matt had his weekly lesson with Coach Martin. Thanks to Mom to taking him to the course and catching these clips. Looks as if they worked on swing path and getting the club more upright.
Matt is back at it again in a 5 hole modified Little Linksters Tournament at Northcliffe Golf Club. Dad was travelling so his surrogate caddy Brad Martin stepped in to cover the loop. He didn’t have a great day on the course, but managed to hold off the lackluster field to take 1st place once […]
Back to work with the flat stick. Made a game 30 foot lag putts if not in 3 foot circle then needs to make 2 3 foot putts in a row.
The final day of the GSA Junior Championships. Matt and Sayers tied for the lead. You can watch the video above, but the short of it is that Matt and Sayers were tied going into hole #9. Sayers carded a 3 and Matt carded a 4. The long of it was that Sayers had 0 […]
The 2nd day of the GSA 2014 Junior Championships. Matt makes a comeback, goes out and shoots a 38 and pulls back into a tie for 1st place. He had a good day putting, made a few mistakes but was able to recover without any big numbers. The putting changes we made seem to be […]
