Matthew working on his short game. Putting and chipping. Doing his weekly drills, as well as hitting some 3/4 shots after.
Yearly Archives: 2015
A couple of days after the big regional tournament we were back in Orlando and needed to practice. What better way than to get some short game work in than CONGO RIVER GOLF!! The crew had a great time with Vanessa taking 1st place.
Matthew playing in the 2015 US Kids Holiday Classic, Day #2, held at PGA National, in West Palm Beach, Florida. Yesterday he finished with a 8 over par 44, about 6-7 strokes over his average. We chalked it up to being nervous in a big tournament. We spoke about it candidly over lunch and then […]
Matthew playing in the 2015 US Kids Holiday Classic, held at PGA National, in West Palm Beach, Florida. The family took the trip over for the holidays so Matt could participate. This was Matt’s largest tournament to date and his first outside of Texas. He worked hard over the past couple months in preparation for […]
Matthew working again today on his short game and ball striking. Still in Orlando at Falcon’s Fire Golf Club. Great facilities to get some work done.
We arrived in Orlando several days before the U.S. Kids Holiday Classic to be held at PGA National, in West Palm Beach. We were not going to skip those days without practicing. Found Falcon Fire Golf Club about a 10 minute drive from our hotel. Matthew getting in some good short game work in preparation […]
Matthew through his past good play was invited to compete in the U.S. Kids 2015 Holiday Classic, held at PGA National, in West Palm Beach Florida. We got the invite months ago and started making plans for the 21st and the 22nd of December. It also turned out the Shiv Parmar, one of Matt’s […]
Coach Martin found the issues with Matt’s swing from the STPGA Championships and went to work correcting it the day after. Matt has a regional U.S. Kids tournament in Palm Beach next week. Trying to tighten it up before hand. Coach will see him again tomorrow. Matthew worked hard on the process.
Matthew qualified for the 2015 STPGA Fall Championships, held at Kingwood Country Club in Houston, Texas. This is his first STPGA Championship. He prepared intensely over the past month. We drove down on Friday to get a practice round in before the tournament. The first tournament round went well, basically he had 1 bad hole (double […]
Matt and his swing coach are continually working on his ball striking. We have been working on his complete preshot routine for the past couple weeks. Everything from imaging to grip to alignment. It is coming along. Working on his focus is a tough thing, in that, he just turned 9 and getting him to […]
During the winter months, the available time to practice during the week is greatly curtailed. We typically stay until the sun goes down. Caught this shot of Matt doing some last minute putting before we head home for homework.
Matthew continues his Saturday morning practices in and around the green. 5 foot drills and 10 foot drills as well as some 2 putt drills. In the home stretch of getting ready for the STPGA Fall Championships and U.S. Kids Regional Championships, both coming up within the next two weeks.
Matthew continued his quest to conquer the practice green. Last week he challenged Levi Valadez and got spanked pretty bad. Levi is a incoming Freshman at Kansas State and one of the top High School Seniors in the state. Both Levi and Matt had / have the same swing coach during their early days and […]
Matt and Shiv are starting to become US Kids celebs being featured in most everything they are doing right now. Found today that they are featured on the front page of the US Kids website. The photo is from the 2015 Texas Open where they both competed.
Matthew working on his putting drills. Was a bit cold today he has 3 layers on, but we need to get the drills in. He did well and more importantly focused well. He had a best 6 / 12 from the ten foot clock drill. He was very happy about that.
Matthew had his weekly lesson with his swing coach today. They worked again on ball striking and setup / grip. Got rained in the end but, all in all a good lesson.
Matthew was up early on Thanksgiving and at the course working on the game. He did some putting and then worked on getting up and down. Did some classroom work on where to leave your misses, pretty sure he understands now, even if he can not pull it off. He now understand why some putts […]
U.S. Kids Golf sent out their yearly Thanksgiving messages via Twitter and Facebook. They featured one of Matt’s pictures taken from the 2015 Texas Open. Along with Matt in the photo are Shiv and Aadi Parmar, Sayers Allen and two other juniors. Thanks to Shiv’s father for pointing it out to me. Click here for […]
Matthew has been playing mostly U.S. Kids tournaments this year and we were gone for most of the summer to the Philippines. But none the less Matt received a invite to the STPGA Fall Championships, having only played 4 events. 2 1st place, a 2nd place and a 5th place, I guess is enough.
Matt was at the range today working on the swing. Can not let a bit of rain stop the progress. Matt working on tightening up the forward bump and the grip. Enjoy
