Matthew visited the range today to get some swing work in. Setup and consistency still on the table as the biggest fault points, but they are getting better. The work continues……….

Matthew played at Sonterra in the 8 year old division today. He shot 50 and got 2nd place. He left a lot of strokes out there on the course. In the same breath his good shots are getting much better. We are down to consistency and believing and trusting his stroke. The work continues.
We working on putting and chipping. On putting he did a ton of 3 footers working on his own setup and making confident strokes. Chipping he did some work on getting inside 3 feet then did a bunch of up / down drills. Getting more consistent.
Matthew had his weekly lesson today. Still trying to convince him that on 3/4 shots that we need 3/4 shots not anything more or less. Starting to come around. His tempo started out today really good but got progressively faster and the swing got longer as we went on. Looks really good in the beginning.
Matthew and I went to the range today to get some work in on his swing. It was cold and damp again, but need to get work in. Matthew wanted to setup too close to the ball today, once we sorted that out everything was fine.
Seeing how we missed our short game practice on last Saturday due to extreme cold, we hit the course today for some 2 Putt Practice. We were practically all alone on the course with it 45 degrees and cloudy. Matt’s objective is to 2 putt everything. The lags range from off the green and 20 […]
Matthew played a practice round with Coach Martin and his father today. Fairly cold and wet for the first half of round. He didn’t have his best stuff but still managed to shoot a 40 with a double on the par 5 #2 and two 3 putts. His coach exacted revenge today and his father […]
Knowing we would not be able to go to the course on Saturday (cold / wet weather) we got some work in on Friday after school. Worked only for about 40 mins and worked exclusively on 3/4 PW. Setup alignment stick at the appropriate distance and Matt took aim. He was having trouble until his […]
Matt’s lesson was cancelled for today, so we took it upon ourselves to work on our mechanics. It was cold and windy and we had 3 layers on so we just worked on chipping and 3/4 swings. I put a yellow stick out at 3/4 PW range and a yellow one at 3/4 7 iron […]
Matthew and I went to range Monday after school and worked on his takeaway positions. Putting in the work.
Matthew played a practice round at Republic Golf Club today. He was joined by his grandfather, father and his swing coach. Matthew had a pretty rough time warming up and was very worried about his inability to hit good shots. Even so we headed off to the first tee, where he played well. He scored his […]
Matt working the big circle (from 20′ to 35′) trying to get as many 2 putts as possible. He is doing everything him self. He had 3 1-putts, 48 2-putts and 13 3-putts. He learned real quick not to be short on the sides of the slope. Great drill. We finished this and then he […]
Matt out working in the cold and the rain. Catch up day, while others are staying warm and dry, Matt is stalking them….
