First tournament of the new Junior Tour season, held at Sonterra Country Club. Matt played a practice round last week in preparation, getting around the course in short order. He was ready for today’s event. He started off well enough, but quickly lost focus, spending too much energy on socializing with his playing partners as […]
Matt back at it for another session of Short Game Saturday. Working on alot of chipping, high, low and normal carries. He finished up the day having a putting contest with some of the College guys that were at the course practicing. I heard he got 2nd of of 4, not too shabby.
Matt had no scheduled practices / events for the day, so we decided to get his practice in at the site of his next tournament Sonterra South. It was a good opportunity for Matt to refine his yardage book and get a good feel of how fast the course is playing and enjoy a round […]
Whenever we receive new clubs, we need to brand them up MattPawlyGolf style. Matt is all about Orange and Flames, so as always we put the flame shaft covers on his new clubs and got out the acrylic paint and did a little bit of pain fill. Until club manufacturers wise up to the fact […]
If you remember back to last month we went to Matt’s club builders MK Golf Technologies for Matthew’s yearly fitting. 2017 Club Fitting We came away from that fitting placing a order for a new driver, a new 3 wood and 11 new shafts (irons and hybrids) and 13 grips. We needed to finish up the […]
During our STPGA winter holiday break, got an email from Republic promoting their Adult Junior Scramble. Checked with Matt’s Coach and made sure he would have a playing partner. All good. Neither Matt nor Brad played particularly well, but they still managed to squeak out a 1 stroke win in the event. I only videoed […]
Day 2 of the Fall STPGA Junior Tour Championships. Matt posted an 81 on day 1, a few off of his goal and average, but not horrible by any stretch. We spoke about what happened in Day 1 and reviewed his notes. He as poised to do better in the second round. Morning started out […]
The Fall STPGA Championships are here and Matt qualified through play for the past 3 months. We moved Matt up early to this division (11-12 year olds, he was 10) for the mere fact that the previous division was not challenging enough and we felt that he was wasting time. Matt performed well throughout the […]
Had a weekend off between Thanksgiving and the Fall Championships. Worked on short game and took the family out to have a little competition at San Pedro Par 3. Matt’s mother has not played in about 2 years and I have not played in about a year. We loaded up 4 clubs each and played […]
Matt having a Saturday off from tournaments means that it is time for Short Game Saturday. Got the course early and worked on putting stroke, lag putting (30-50 feet) and birdie putts (18 feet). Spent about hour and half on putting. Then moved on to chipping 5, 10 and 15 footers. Finished up with some […]
Matt playing in the final STPGA regular season event of the year. He has concentrated on the STPGA Junior Tour events this season and as a result is leading the 11-12 year old division as a 10 year old. The tournament this week was in Austin at Lakeway Live Oak, a difficult track, that requires […]
Matt back at it again in a STPGA event at Sonterra County Club (South Course). He was originally paired as a threesome, but there was a withdraw which left Matt’s buddy Shiv without a playing partner. We hung back and played with Shiv. The weather was not fun and either drizzled or rained for most […]
Matt working on a Saturday without a tournament on his short game. Going through a myriad of drills to keep his stroke and confidence high. After the work was done challenged a few UIW players to a friendly putting contest. Matt garnered a 2nd place in the contest.
