The STPGA has two divisions for 6-9 year olds. A 5 hole modified division at approximately 750 yards, where he handedly defeated others when he was 6. According to the STPGA a player that shoots better than 45 for 2 rounds during a season will be moved to the 9 hole modified division. The 9 hole modified […]
Matt still working on his setup and 3 footers. I think it is starting to feel normal for him.
Matt got in a practice round at Republic (site of his first tournament in 3 weeks) and did pretty well. The putting was the only real thing that was lacking. Last year he shot 28 to win the STPGA event and he shot 25 today with 16 putts in 5 holes. Need to get that […]
Using a 3 wood to chip.
Matthew still working on his lag putting.
Matt is still working on his short game. Working on Rhythm here, he hit some really good shots and the setup is getting better.
Matt unfortunately got the flexibility genes from his father, thus despite being in very good shape he is tight as a drum. 7 years old and can’t touch his toes. He will have to fight this his entire life.
Registration Completed. Hopefully Matt can improve on his showing last year. 6/11/14 at San Pedro.
Well it has been posted to the refrigerator so it must be official! Matt will be competing in 7 STPGA Little Linkster events and 2 city championships this summer. He will begin again this year with the STPGA 5 hole modified, but I’m sure they will quickly move him up to the 9 hole modified […]
Matthew is still working on the game, improvements are happening, slowly but coming along.
Mat working on his distance control in regards to chipping. We needed a way to have a controlled distance (without using verbiage about yardage) so we came up with a small, medium and large chip (5, 10, 15 yard). Matt is here working on his small and medium chip distance control.
Matt has been working hard on his setup and stroke consistency.
Matt tied his best lag putting practice today with 17 out of 20 inside a 3 foot circle. Touch is coming along.
Took Matt for his weekly round. Still struggling with taking it back to fast and thus too short. Also, him taking a peek on putts is still a real concern. Will have to drill both of these things more. Overall it was his best round at Republic to date. If you recall he won the […]
Well the city championships are over and done with, time to get back to work. Matt is still working on his short game weekly. Usually a day of chipping and a day of lag putting. On the chipping front I taught him the bump and run yesterday. He doesn’t completely grasp the concept of why […]
Matt playing in his 2nd tournament ever, placed 2nd in the 2013 Greater San Antonio Junior Championships. If not for a really bad first day and being soooo excited, he may have pulled off a win. He led the field on day 2 and 3, but couldn’t make up enough strokes. As they say “You […]
Matt’s scorecards and stats for the 3 days. As you can see he had a really bad first day. It cost him.
Matt competed in the first annual Drive Chip & Putt sponsored by The Masters. He barely made in regarding age. Without a caddy he had to putt, chip and drive. His putting was good as was his driving, but during the chipping he skipped most of his setup routine and didn’t make good swings. Better […]
Matt Played his first tournament today. A STPGA Little Linksters event. It was a 5 hole modified event. He worked hard leading up to the day and came away with his first golf tournament win.
Matt played his first round of golf today. San Pedro Executive course. He played 6 holes. Shot 43 with 20 putts and had a blast. He’s getting very excited for tournaments soon.
