Saturday can only mean one thing, Short Game Saturday. Matt did some putting drills and then focused on 15-25 footers trying to make every putt and keep his total par are below. Historical statistics mandate that a player will have x% of 3 putts and x% of 1 putts when hitting the green. With 60 […]
Super cold out today so Matt was inside working on his swing and playing some holes on the simulator. He was recording his swing. When he was done I went and grabbed this to share.
Every couple of years we get Matt evaluated physically to make sure we are working on the correct things in regards to flexibility and strength conditioning. Today was his current evaluation. Previously we were made aware that his flexibility is not the best and he could be stronger. Not the wisest thing to have a […]
Another edition of Short Game Saturday is here. Seeing how Matt has a tournament at Fort Sam tomorrow and Fort Sam is 10 minutes from our house might as well do our drills from there. Matt got a good handle on his speed, then began 10 and 15 foot putting drills. 8 balls in a […]
Matt back at it for another session of Short Game Saturday. Working on alot of chipping, high, low and normal carries. He finished up the day having a putting contest with some of the College guys that were at the course practicing. I heard he got 2nd of of 4, not too shabby.
Matt had no scheduled practices / events for the day, so we decided to get his practice in at the site of his next tournament Sonterra South. It was a good opportunity for Matt to refine his yardage book and get a good feel of how fast the course is playing and enjoy a round […]
Had a weekend off between Thanksgiving and the Fall Championships. Worked on short game and took the family out to have a little competition at San Pedro Par 3. Matt’s mother has not played in about 2 years and I have not played in about a year. We loaded up 4 clubs each and played […]
Matt having a Saturday off from tournaments means that it is time for Short Game Saturday. Got the course early and worked on putting stroke, lag putting (30-50 feet) and birdie putts (18 feet). Spent about hour and half on putting. Then moved on to chipping 5, 10 and 15 footers. Finished up with some […]
Matt working on a Saturday without a tournament on his short game. Going through a myriad of drills to keep his stroke and confidence high. After the work was done challenged a few UIW players to a friendly putting contest. Matt garnered a 2nd place in the contest.
Matt working hard on his game and trying to get over some putting woes as of late. He allowed his stroke to become jabby and inconsistent. He spent the entire week working on his stroke and it is starting to look pretty good.
After it raining all week, we awoke Saturday to beautiful conditions and dry greens. Took the opportunity to get some putting drills in and continue the long and laborious road towards short game domination. Matt hit the putting arc from 9 feet and did 50 with and 50 without. (his putting has been on point […]

Matt, Shiv Parmar and Adi Parmar had a practice round today at Republic Golf Club. Shiv and Adi are getting ready for the worlds and it was a good opportunity to get some practice play in. The boys all played well and had a good time.
Summer time is officially here at MattPawlyGolf and that means no tournaments on Saturday, which means, we get back to Shortgame Saturdays. Matt spends (on non tournament Saturdays) the day working on putting and chipping exclusively. This is our first time back in quite a while. Did a bunch of putting drills (6 and 10 […]

Matt has been working hard for the past week in preparation for the Texas Open and the Tour Championships this month. He is starting to realize that there is more than just swinging the club correctly and there is a whole new world of ball striking to be discovered.
Matt will be playing here at Cedar Creek tomorrow. Brought him by to work on his putting speed and to see the all important tee shots on the course.
Matt has been having some difficulty in tournaments with down hill putts that break away from him and his ability to leave them at the hole and not run them by. So we have been concentrating out putting work on just that. 50 balls at a time down hill and mostly away to a 1 […]
In the past 4-5 tournaments Matt has been struggling with leaving himself long 2nd putts. Were talking 3-4 footers even from short distances. Not sure if it is nerves or just lack of focus. So this week we have been working on leaving putts inside a 1 foot circle. To add the the difficulty they […]
