Matt continues his work on putting. Had trouble keeping him focused today, but got through the drills. He has tournament tomorrow lets see how he does.
Matthew’s coach is out of town this week so in lieu of his weekly lesson, he had me to deal with. Got him warmed up and hit balls at the Republic star. 3/4 9 iron. You can see from this photo that he has trouble controlling the length of his take away at times. Club […]
Matthew working on the issues that plagued him during the tournament yesterday. He was taking his hands a bit inside, his coach working on them going back down the line a bit more and him using his chest more effectively. Was a quiet Sunday evening on the range, good time to get some work in.
Matthew taking his weekly lesson. Working his back swing plane. He seems to be concentrating more as of late, a bit more maturity when on the course. We shall see.
Matthew back to work after taking about a week off, which was good timing as the weather has been pretty bad. Had him in the simulator working on his take away, pause and following through. He was able to instantly see the results of bad swings and their affect on yardage and spin, thus being […]
Matthew working on his short game. Putting and chipping. Doing his weekly drills, as well as hitting some 3/4 shots after.
A couple of days after the big regional tournament we were back in Orlando and needed to practice. What better way than to get some short game work in than CONGO RIVER GOLF!! The crew had a great time with Vanessa taking 1st place.
Matthew working again today on his short game and ball striking. Still in Orlando at Falcon’s Fire Golf Club. Great facilities to get some work done.
We arrived in Orlando several days before the U.S. Kids Holiday Classic to be held at PGA National, in West Palm Beach. We were not going to skip those days without practicing. Found Falcon Fire Golf Club about a 10 minute drive from our hotel. Matthew getting in some good short game work in preparation […]
Coach Martin found the issues with Matt’s swing from the STPGA Championships and went to work correcting it the day after. Matt has a regional U.S. Kids tournament in Palm Beach next week. Trying to tighten it up before hand. Coach will see him again tomorrow. Matthew worked hard on the process.
During the winter months, the available time to practice during the week is greatly curtailed. We typically stay until the sun goes down. Caught this shot of Matt doing some last minute putting before we head home for homework.
Matthew continues his Saturday morning practices in and around the green. 5 foot drills and 10 foot drills as well as some 2 putt drills. In the home stretch of getting ready for the STPGA Fall Championships and U.S. Kids Regional Championships, both coming up within the next two weeks.
Matthew continued his quest to conquer the practice green. Last week he challenged Levi Valadez and got spanked pretty bad. Levi is a incoming Freshman at Kansas State and one of the top High School Seniors in the state. Both Levi and Matt had / have the same swing coach during their early days and […]
Matthew working on his putting drills. Was a bit cold today he has 3 layers on, but we need to get the drills in. He did well and more importantly focused well. He had a best 6 / 12 from the ten foot clock drill. He was very happy about that.
Matthew was up early on Thanksgiving and at the course working on the game. He did some putting and then worked on getting up and down. Did some classroom work on where to leave your misses, pretty sure he understands now, even if he can not pull it off. He now understand why some putts […]
Matt was at the range today working on the swing. Can not let a bit of rain stop the progress. Matt working on tightening up the forward bump and the grip. Enjoy
Matthew got an hour in with his swing coach today. Worked on technical aspects of the forward bump and getting to the left a bit better while not moving the head. General ball striking drills ensued. He did well and started to really strike the ball properly. We shall see if we can carry it […]
Matthew played his first round by himself today. All his coach did was give him yardage to hole and then drove away. Fairly decent, he made some questionable choices that could of bitten him. But I think that this is a step on the path of him gaining the self confidence to be what he […]
It is Saturday, which means short game practice day. Matthew breezed through his Arc putting drills today without issue. Impending weather changes took place at 9am. The wind kicked up and made putting very testy. Matt again worked on his around the clock putting from 10 feet tying his best of 5 in the hole. […]
Matthew putting in the work after school today. Working with his swing coach, in preparation for the December tournaments that are upcoming. Cleaning up some technical faults in the down swing.
