Matt has been working on his game. Chipping and putting are far above average, full swing is coming along. Makes it hard when hes playing 300 yard par 4s, while only hitting his driver on a good strike 150. Still placing in the tourney with the length is promising.
Matt worked on his setup and putting stroke today. Just reviewing the basics and trying to get his groove back.
Matthew had his weekly lesson with Coach Martin today. They worked on his balance and getting to his left side better. They did quite a bit of work on “walking through” the shot.
Matthew played in another USKids event held at Cedar Creek. He played better still, but still had some issues. He had 5 3 putts and got a 8 on a par, but also had a putt for eagle and ended up birdieing it.
Matt was out playing another STPGA event, this time at River Crossing. There were 12 entries in the 6-9 year old (modified 9) division. The STPGA had the course set up long and when I say long I mean there were a couple par 4s at about 300 yards. None of us could understand it […]
Matt continues to work on setup, distance from the ball, balance and keeping his head still. It looks as if he is making some improvements and starting to “feel” what a good setup is.
Matt continues to work on his setup and self adjustment to make putts and chips. Trying to teach him to setup on his own and be responsible for his own setup.
Matt had his weekly lesson with Coach Martin. They continued to work on keeping his head still during his swing and pausing before starting his down swing.
Matthew played in a STPGA event today with Nathan Marion (one of the top 9 year olds in San Antonio) and Shiv Parmar (the 7th best 7 year old in the world) Matthew still struggling with his head movement was given a clinic by the #1 and #2 seed in the tournament. He saw first hand how […]
Matthew played in another USKids event today held at Fair Oaks Country Club. It was very wet and he didn’t get a proper warm up seeing how the range was closed due to weather. We did the best we could under the conditions. Matt has been struggling with keeping his head centered during his swing […]
Matt still working on putting and chipping.
Brad worked with Matthew on ball striking again today since he was going to be out of town on his usual Saturday. Matt did pretty good and make 14 good swings in a row, his best ever.
Matt still working on his setup and his swing mechanics. Trying hard not to use his arms, but rely on his lower body for power. He is also learning discipline and not to talk back as evident of the running and pushups 🙂 We worked on Matt hitting irons from a tee and Coach Brad […]
Matt was back at Olmos Park today playing in the STPGA 9 hole modified division. As you remember he was moved into the division by the STPGA. He had a rough day of today not hitting the ball consistently at all. He left a lot of strokes out there today and came away with a […]
Matt competed in his first US Kids 7 year old division tournament today. The division is 9 holes modified with a length approximately 180 par 4s. With the limited field today he took first place.
Matt still working on his setup and consistent ball striking. Coach Martin putting him through the paces. He played 3 holes today from 225 distances and came out 2 over par. He has 2 big tournaments this weekend.
We were planning to have Matthew play in the USKids 9 hole events and the STPGA 5 hole events this fall and make the full 9 hole conversion in January. In fact I had already signed him up for those events. I just received an email from the STPGA Junior Director in regards to his […]
Matt has been working hard on his concentration. Mainly his putting. He has been trying to reach the goal of 100 3 foot putts in a row and has gotten to 99 previously. Today he reached 107 in a row. He has been wanting a new “special” grip for his putter and looks like I […]
Matthew is starting to get the sequence going and his tempo is improving. We are still working increasing his distance constantly. He is starting to get it. There was more to this lesson but I failed to setup the camera for the first half.
