Pretty straight forward, nothing complicated. Up Saturday morning and off to the course and Day 1. Started the day […]
Matt back in another lesson with his swing coach. Every working on the technical aspects of his swing and trying to eliminate any flaws their may be from week to week. Pretty chilly outside so the simulator it is. Doing what it takes to be consistent.
We headed up to the Austin tour to get some more tournament experience. This time it was Falconhead Golf Club and a pretty windy day. Matt still working on his mental game and keeping control of his emotions had a bit of trouble on the 7th hole and let the tournament slip away, with 4 strokes […]
It’s Saturday without a tournament on the books, that can mean only 1 thing…. Short Game Saturday. Today we worked on putting exclusively. We did quite a bit of 2 putt practice, which included lag putting from 30-50 feet into a 3 foot circle and making the follow up to save par. All about the […]
Matt and I went out early on Thanksgiving to get some practice round work in. As with all practice rounds as of late, he has been teeing it up from the ladies tees. This is the position he will be playing from for US Kids coming this February in the 10 year old division. He […]
Matt continuing to work on his swing. His coach has him working to get the club head up on plane vs. being inside and then following through without slowing down to hit the ball. Matt likes working in the sim, it allows the perfectionist in him to see the details instantly. Good and bad in […]

Matt taking his weekly lesson. This time working on his alignment to his target. Since I have not been aligning him to his target he has been looking over his shoulder for his target and thus setting up incorrectly and his ball flight is suffering along with his confidence. We will continue this work until […]
Matt playing in another STPGA local tournament this time held at Hyatt Hill Country Resort. He has been playing pretty good as of late. Were still in the stage of cutting down on the mental mistakes, but the swing is good (for the most part) and putting is coming along. He stammered along the way […]
Every open Saturday we have we dedicate the practice to the short game. This Saturday was no different. We headed out to Hyatt Hill Country (site of his tournament tomorrow) to work on putting and chipping. Got some good work in on putting and some solid understanding and work in on his chipping. As usual […]
Matt having his weekly lesson, working yet again on ball striking and getting the club back on plane. He has a habit of getting quick on the take away and inside. This causes him to re-route the club at the top adding to inconsistency in the swing.
Matt back in action playing in a STPGA sponsored event at Mission Del Lago. Coming off a 5 over par round yesterday, he had quite a bit to think about. On a whole today his mentally was markedly improved. He made a few technical mistakes but on the whole played solid and put a even […]
Matthew competing in another US Kids event, this time at River Crossing. The season is winding down and Matt has been working as hard as he ever has since the beginning of summer. It is all up to his mental game now as his swing and short game are pretty good. Can he make mistakes […]
In the last tournament Matt had a few doubts and stumbles from in the bunker. Today we took time to work on some bunker shots around the green and some 3/4 swings as if in a fairway bunker. I think he has got the hang of it and towards the end his shots were getting […]
Matt taking his weekly swing lesson, working on turning the chest and hands back as one piece and following through on the shot. After the lesson we worked hard on alignment which has been causing some issues as of late. We shall see if we corrected the issue or not.
Matt continually working on his short game. Doing his daily putting and chipping drills. He is starting to show real consistency and confidence. Practice makes perfect (Perfect Practice)
