Bit of a inglorious start to the 2019 season, with Matt struggling. New division (13-14), new clubs, swing changes, 45 degree temps and Matt being Matt, leads to a disappointing 88. He looks to get it sorted out. You can hear his thoughts on the matter in his Tournament Journal.
Matt back at it with the first event of the Fall 2018 season. Avery Ranch was in good condition despite the last week of rain we have had. Matt played well, made a few mistakes, but overall pretty good. Good start to the season.
Day 2 of the STPGA Junior Tour Summer Championships at the Woodlands CC. After Matt had a disappointing back nine yesterday, he set out to hit greens and get back in the tournament. He struggled with his swing most of the day and his short game was not able to save him. He turned in […]
The STPGA Junior Tour Summer Championships are here and Matt is ready to go. Leading up to the tournament he has been playing well coming off a good finish to the Junior Tour season (69,74,69). He looks poised to make a good run at the tournament. He finished the front 9 at 1 over and […]
Matt playing in the final regular season event of the STPGA Junior Tour today at Brackenridge Park Golf Course. This event was a rescheduled rain out event from earlier in the season. This is also Matt’s 5 straight tournament day this week. He had enough gas to get through the round and shot a career […]
Matt back on the Junior tour for the next to last regular season event of the Summer. Out at Quarry today fresh off of his 2nd Prestige Tour event. Early morning starting time. Matt plotted his way around the course making 3 bogies and 15 pars. Nothing spectacular but solid golf.
Final day of the Aggieland Classic, Day 1 and 2 Matt posted matching 80s and was looking to move up the board. We discussed the errors and how to correct them and he was poised for a move. He made the turn at 1 over par playing some great golf and not making many silly […]
Day 2 of the Prestige Tour Aggieland Classic held at Texas A&M. Matt finished up yesterday posting an 80. Coming into today looking for a few less mistakes. Still carded a double bogey with silly decisions and had some 3 putts. Posted another 80 today which put him in the middle of the pack.
Matt playing in his 2nd career Prestige event (13-14 year old division). He played his first one at Victoria Country Club ( Day 1 and Day 2) back in May and shot 83/87. The STPGA allows younger kids to play 2 events per year without having to move up to that age division. This event […]
Matt in another STPGA event this time at his home course, The Republic. As of late have been only working on good decisions and putting his ball in a position to score from. Maybe just maybe something is sticking in his brain. Shot a 2 under 69 today with a bogey free round.
Matt in another STPGA event. He is working hard on his focus, concentration and routine. Trying to make good decisions that put him in a position to score. He made some awful decisions on a couple holes which lead to big numbers. Outside those holes he played well. He is working through some swing inconsistencies […]
Matt up again this time at Comanche Trace. With the season winding down, Matt has been working hard on incorporating good decisions into his routine. Still leaving 3-6 strokes per round out there he managed to squeak this one out over his buddy Shiv, carding a 78 on Creeks and Valleys.
Matt playing at Landa Park in another STPGA event. Still working on process and procedure. Did much better hitting greens (14) today although it didn’t lead to any lower scoring because of some bad decisions.
Matt at Sonterra this week trying to work on his process and routine. Played decent made some mistakes that cost strokes. Ended up in a playoff and made another mistake. The work continues.
Matt playing an STPGA Junior Tour event at Golf Club of Texas. Working on his game and decision making process. He is trying to learn to focus on the process vs. the results. It seems to be a hard lesson for him. Baby steps.
