Final day of the Aggieland Classic, Day 1 and 2 Matt posted matching 80s and was looking to move up the board. We discussed the errors and how to correct them and he was poised for a move. He made the turn at 1 over par playing some great golf and not making many silly […]
Day 2 of the Prestige Tour Aggieland Classic held at Texas A&M. Matt finished up yesterday posting an 80. Coming into today looking for a few less mistakes. Still carded a double bogey with silly decisions and had some 3 putts. Posted another 80 today which put him in the middle of the pack.
Matt playing in his 2nd career Prestige event (13-14 year old division). He played his first one at Victoria Country Club ( Day 1 and Day 2) back in May and shot 83/87. The STPGA allows younger kids to play 2 events per year without having to move up to that age division. This event […]
Matt in another STPGA event this time at his home course, The Republic. As of late have been only working on good decisions and putting his ball in a position to score from. Maybe just maybe something is sticking in his brain. Shot a 2 under 69 today with a bogey free round.
Matt in another STPGA event. He is working hard on his focus, concentration and routine. Trying to make good decisions that put him in a position to score. He made some awful decisions on a couple holes which lead to big numbers. Outside those holes he played well. He is working through some swing inconsistencies […]
Matt up again this time at Comanche Trace. With the season winding down, Matt has been working hard on incorporating good decisions into his routine. Still leaving 3-6 strokes per round out there he managed to squeak this one out over his buddy Shiv, carding a 78 on Creeks and Valleys.
Matt continues his work on on the short game. Running through his drills.
Matt playing at Landa Park in another STPGA event. Still working on process and procedure. Did much better hitting greens (14) today although it didn’t lead to any lower scoring because of some bad decisions.
Matt at Sonterra this week trying to work on his process and routine. Played decent made some mistakes that cost strokes. Ended up in a playoff and made another mistake. The work continues.
Matt working on his short range chipping, keeping his hands out of the shot and trusting the club to do the work. He needed to land 200 in the 1 foot circle at 5 yards. The real challenge is keeping focus long enough to complete the drill.
Matt playing an STPGA Junior Tour event at Golf Club of Texas. Working on his game and decision making process. He is trying to learn to focus on the process vs. the results. It seems to be a hard lesson for him. Baby steps.
